Will Marshall is Co-Founder and CEO of Planet Labs, leading the largest Earth imaging satellite constellation in history with over 200 satellites that image the entire planet daily.
Will earned his PhD in Physics from Oxford University under Sir Roger Penrose and worked as a scientist at NASA Ames Research Center on lunar missions LCROSS and LADEE.
Will co-invented a method for space debris collision avoidance using lasers and co-led the PhoneSat project that tested smartphones in space, inspiring Planet's satellite approach. He has published over 30 scientific articles and delivered two TED talks.
Planet went public on NYSE in December 2021 (ticker: PL) and has raised over 615M in total funding. The company operates the world's largest constellation of Earth observation satellites serving over 700 customers globally.
Planet images 30 TB of data daily and serves agriculture, forestry, government, and intelligence sectors. The company secured major contracts including a 230M deal with Japan and a 240M contract with Germany for satellite services.
