Xu Huazhe

Xu Huazhe is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Galaxea AI, a Beijing-based humanoid robotics company developing embodied intelligence at scale. He is also a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, leading the Tsinghua Embodied AI Lab.
Xu earned his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley's BAIR lab and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford Vision and Learning Lab. He holds a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Management.
Xu specializes in reinforcement learning, robotics, and computer vision with over 80 publications in top-tier conferences. His work on RoboCook won the Best Systems Paper Award at CoRL 2023, and he received the AI100 Pioneers award from DeepTech and MIT Tech Review China.
Galaxea AI raised over $100 million in 2025, bringing total funding to $210 million at a $700 million valuation. The company serves over 40 clients including Huawei Cloud, Volkswagen, Samsung, ByteDance, Stanford, and MIT, commercializing its R1 humanoid robot series priced between $44,500 and $64,000.
Galaxea AI introduced the G0 dual-system VLA model and Galaxea Open-World Dataset to advance robotic manipulation. The company aims to ship up to 1,000 robot units by December 2025 and targets profitability by 2026, with a mission to build 10 billion robots for 10 billion people.
