Yu Su

Yu Su is Co-Founder and CEO at NeoCognition, an AI research lab developing self-learning agents that specialize like human experts. He is a Sloan Research Fellow and Associate Professor at Ohio State University, where he leads one of the most established AI agent labs in the country.
Yu Su earned his PhD from UC Santa Barbara and bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, both in Computer Science. He previously worked as a researcher at Microsoft Semantic Machines and spun out NeoCognition in 2025 after seeing foundational model advances could enable truly personalized agents.
Su's research team contributed seminal work including Mind2Web, MMMU, and SeeAct that helped lay the foundation of the modern AI agent field. His research is used in frontier language models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, and he has received multiple best paper awards from CVPR and ACL.
NeoCognition raised $40M in seed funding co-led by Cambium Capital and Walden Catalyst Ventures, with participation from Vista Equity Partners and angels including Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and Databricks co-founder Ion Stoica. The company emerged from stealth in April 2026 with about 15 employees, most holding PhDs.
NeoCognition's approach enables AI agents to continuously learn and specialize into domain experts, addressing the 50% task completion rate of current generalist agents. The company targets enterprise customers and established SaaS companies looking to modernize their products with reliable AI agents.
