Yuanhao Qu

Yuanhao Qu is Co-Founder and President at Phylo, an applied AI research lab building integrated environments for AI-native biology. He holds a PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University where he pioneered AI agents for biomedical research.
Yuanhao earned his B.S. in Biology from UC San Diego and completed his PhD at Stanford School of Medicine under advisor Le Cong. He co-developed Biomni, the first general-purpose biomedical AI agent, and CRISPR-GPT for gene-editing automation.
Yuanhao spent a decade in biomedical research combining experimental and computational biology expertise. He engineered a Cas12a-based single-cell lineage tracing tool and published research in Nature Biomedical Engineering.
Phylo raised $13.5M in seed funding co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures with participation from Anthropic, Zetta, Conviction, and SV Angel. The company launched Biomni Lab in February 2026.
Biomni is used by over 7,000 labs across academia and industry, supporting tens of thousands of scientists and saving millions of research hours. Phylo's Biomni Lab reduced workflows at Ginkgo Bioworks from weeks to hours.
