Zack Eakin

Zack Eakin is Co-Founder and CEO of Layup Parts, a Huntington Beach-based startup on a mission to transform composite parts manufacturing through software-driven automation and speed.
Eakin brings nearly two decades of composites experience, beginning his career at Chip Ganassi Racing working on carbon-fiber structures for IndyCar and the DeltaWing prototype, before becoming the first engineer at Elon Musk's The Boring Company in 2017.
Eakin identified a critical gap in composites manufacturing while at Anduril, recognizing that sectors like CNC machining and injection molding had been revolutionized by platforms like Protolabs and Xometry, while composites had been left behind.
After leading mechanical engineering at Anduril and heading the design of drone products including the Roadrunner, Eakin co-founded Layup Parts in 2024 alongside Hanno Kappen and Elisa Suarez, fellow alumni of The Boring Company.
Layup Parts has raised $51M in total funding, including a $42M Series A led by Marlinspike, and has already cut composite part production timelines from weeks to hours, serving customers across aerospace, defense, motorsports, and automotive.
