Zaky Hassan is Co-Founder and CEO of Molagri, a Y Combinator-backed biotech company pioneering next-generation biopesticides that protect crops while safeguarding pollinators and beneficial insects.
Zaky holds an Honours BSc in Biochemistry and is a PhD candidate in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto, where he specialized as a protein biochemist and viral structural biologist, publishing twice in Nature Communications.
Zaky was awarded over $130K in academic fellowships and previously founded a non-profit where he raised over $1M in grants and delivered programming to more than 1,000 youth in Toronto.
At Molagri, Zaky co-leads a team of four alongside PhD lab mate Min Jin, combining six years of collaborative research to translate deep molecular science into scalable agricultural solutions backed by Y Combinator.
Molagri's precision biopesticides target molecular mechanisms unique to pest insects, addressing both resistance evolution and emissions reductions in manufacturing and field use, positioning the company at the forefront of sustainable crop protection.
