Actively AI Raises $45M Series B Led by TCV for AI Sales Agents

Stanford-founded startup reaches $250M valuation with AI platform that assigns dedicated agents to each sales account, backed by TCV, First Harmonic, and Bain Capital Ventures.

Actively AI Raises $45M Series B Led by TCV for AI Sales Agents

The offices in Manhattan's Flatiron District stretch across nearly 11,000 square feet—not extravagant by tech standards, but notable for a company that didn't exist four years ago. Inside, roughly 65 people are building what amounts to a provocative proposition: that the future of enterprise sales isn't more dashboards or analytics tools, but autonomous agents that do the work itself.

Actively AI announced Tuesday it has raised $45 million in Series B funding, a round co-led by TCV and First Harmonic that brings the New York startup's total capital to $68 million. The company assigns each sales account its own AI agent—software that runs continuously to research prospects, identify pipeline risks, and draft customer communications without waiting for a human to ask.

Whether that vision resonates beyond early adopters will determine if Actively becomes the next category-defining platform or another well-funded experiment in a market already thick with automation promises.

The Money and the Backers

TCV, the growth-stage investor known for backing Netflix and Spotify during their scaling years, joined forces with First Harmonic, a newer fund focused specifically on go-to-market infrastructure. Bain Capital Ventures returned after leading Actively's $17.5 million Series A a year earlier. First Round Capital, which quietly provided $5 million in seed financing that hadn't been previously disclosed, participated as well. Alkeon Capital rounded out the investor group.

Forbes pegged the deal at a $250 million valuation, though the company declined to confirm that figure—standard practice in a market where founders have learned the risks of getting too specific about paper worth.

Fenwick & West handled the legal work, continuing a long relationship between the storied Silicon Valley firm and venture-backed enterprise software companies navigating their growth phases.

What the Product Actually Does

Founded in 2022 by Mihir Garimella and Anshul Gupta—Stanford AI researchers who left academia for the messier work of commercial software—Actively built its platform around a deceptively simple idea. Instead of giving sales reps another tool to check, give each major account an agent that works around the clock.

These aren't chatbots. The agents research prospects across public sources and internal data, move deals forward by drafting personalized outreach, flag risks before they crater pipelines, and suggest specific next actions. The system surfaces completed work through something called Agent Inbox, generates customer-facing materials via Assistant, and monitors account health through Watchtower—a suite of features that, in aggregate, attempts to automate the invisible labor that occupies most of a modern sales professional's day.

There's also an API for companies that want to embed these capabilities into their existing workflows, a recognition that enterprise buyers rarely rip out entire tech stacks for a single vendor's vision, no matter how compelling the pitch.

The Customer Evidence (With Caveats)

Actively counts names like Attentive, Ironclad, Ramp, Samsara, and Verkada as customers—the kind of fast-growing tech companies that serve as valuable reference accounts in enterprise sales cycles.

At Samsara, the fleet management and IoT platform, Actively reports its AI-driven outreach doubled conversion rates and lifted quota attainment among top-performing account executives. The company also says Samsara used its API to accelerate internal AI initiatives, saving millions in compute and token costs.

Worth noting: those metrics come directly from Actively's own reporting. Independent verification remains elusive, as is often the case with early-stage product claims. Customer success stories make for compelling marketing, but seasoned buyers know to probe deeper.

The Broader Context

The funding arrives as sales intelligence has become one of tech's more crowded battlegrounds. Salesforce, the incumbent giant, launched Agentforce to embed AI agents directly into its CRM ecosystem. Younger platforms like Apollo, 6sense, and Clari compete across overlapping slices of the revenue operations stack—prospecting, forecasting, pipeline management.

Actively's angle is integration across the full lifecycle, what the founders are calling "Intelligence-Led Revenue," though whether that framing sticks will depend on execution as much as messaging. The Series B capital will fund product expansion along those lines, according to the company, and support a planned San Francisco office to complement the New York headquarters. Specific hiring targets weren't disclosed, though that office lease in Flatiron—signed last April for five years—suggests confidence in sustained growth.

The employee count of 65, pulled from Built In NYC, may already be outdated. Startups at this stage often scale quickly; headcount data tends to lag reality by weeks or months.

The Unanswered Questions

What remains less clear is how Actively navigates the inevitable tension between automation and the human judgment that enterprise buyers still value in complex sales. AI can draft an email, surface a risk, or prioritize an account. But can it read a room on a Zoom call, adjust strategy mid-negotiation, or build the trust that closes seven-figure deals?

Perhaps the better question is whether it needs to. If agents handle the repetitive scaffolding—research, follow-ups, pipeline hygiene—sales teams might focus on what humans still do better: relationships, creativity, persuasion.

That's the theory, anyway. Whether it holds at scale, across industries, and against entrenched competitors with deeper resources will unfold over the next several years. For now, Actively has capital, customers, and a story that resonates with investors betting that go-to-market infrastructure is ready for fundamental reinvention.

Not a safe bet. But possibly a necessary one.
