Expertise AI Launches Free AI Assistant for Account Executives

Toronto startup unveils self-serve AI tool that automates meeting prep, CRM updates, and follow-ups for B2B sales reps, entering a rapidly heating market for sales automation.

Expertise AI Launches Free AI Assistant for Account Executives

Account executives have a love-hate relationship with their tech stack—mostly hate. Between logging calls in the CRM, drafting follow-ups that don't sound like form letters, and frantically Googling a prospect's LinkedIn profile two minutes before a meeting, the tools meant to make selling easier often just create more work.

Expertise AI, a Toronto startup that most people haven't heard of, thinks it has an answer. The company unveiled an AI assistant on June 15, 2026, aimed squarely at the rep carrying quota—not the sales development team, not the VP poring over dashboards, but the individual contributor whose calendar is a Tetris game of back-to-back calls. The pitch is straightforward, perhaps deceptively so: let the busywork handle itself.

What makes the launch noteworthy isn't just the product. It's the timing. The AI sales assistant market has gone from nascent to crowded in what feels like a blink. Close CRM introduced "Chloe," an AI agent baked into its platform, days earlier. Letter AI secured a $40 million Series B in March 2026. Monaco launched an AI-native sales platform in February. Gong, Clari, Outreach—all the usual suspects have retrofitted their offerings with machine learning features over the past year. Everyone, it seems, wants a piece of the rep's workflow.

Expertise is betting that specificity wins. Not a platform for every sales motion. Not another layer inside an existing CRM. An assistant purpose-built for account executives who just want to sell without logging into five different tabs before their first coffee.

The Assistant That Learns Your Voice (Supposedly)

Here's what the tool actually does: it plugs into a rep's CRM, email, calendar, and call recordings to automate the connective tissue between conversations. Morning briefings summarizing the day ahead. Pre-call research pulled from accounts. CRM fields updated after a recorded demo. Follow-up emails drafted in the rep's own tone—or at least a passable imitation. Alerts when a deal has ghosted.

The product claims to learn from each user's communication history, ingesting past emails and CRM notes to mimic writing style. Reps, the company says, can issue commands in plain language: "update the CRM after this call" or "send a follow-up about pricing." Reusable workflows—what Expertise calls "Skills"—can be shared across teams or downloaded from a marketplace, though how robust that ecosystem becomes remains an open question.

Integrations run deep, spanning more than 30 tools: HubSpot, Salesforce, Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, LinkedIn, and conversation intelligence platforms like Gong, Fathom, and tl;dv. The company has secured SOC 2 Type II certification and says it's GDPR and CCPA compliant, the kind of checkboxes that enterprise buyers demand but individual reps rarely think about.

Free to Start, Expensive to Scale

Expertise is launching with a freemium model: $0 for up to 10 conversations per month, then $400 monthly on an annual commitment (or $500 month-to-month) for unlimited use. Business plans start at $1,250 per month and unlock features like two-way HubSpot sync, voice AI, and proactive chat handoff. Enterprise customers—assuming the startup gets that far—gain Salesforce read-write access, single sign-on, and custom playbooks.

"Reps didn't sign up to manage a stack of AI tools," founder and CEO Hao Sheng said in the launch announcement. It's a sentiment that feels both obvious and overdue.

The go-to-market strategy is deliberately bottom-up. No procurement committees. No months-long IT reviews. Reps can sign up, connect their tools, and start automating tasks without asking permission. It's a page from the product-led growth playbook that's worked for Slack, Zoom, and others—though whether individual adoption can scale into enterprise deals when the average contract runs over $15,000 annually is another matter entirely.

Sheng isn't new to conversational AI. He previously worked on Google's Dialogflow and spent time at Cresta, a company building AI for contact centers. Expertise AI is actually a rebrand; the company was known as Chatsimple until recently. Its original product, Expertise Live—a website AI sales agent—is reportedly in use at more than 100 B2B companies, though the startup hasn't disclosed much in the way of hard metrics.

The team appears small, with LinkedIn listing 11-50 employees, and operates out of Toronto. As of mid-June 2026, the company holds a 4.9 rating on G2 across 49 reviews, the kind of score that suggests either a very good product or a very small, self-selected user base. Public information about the company's funding remains limited, with no disclosed details on seed round amounts or investors.

A Crowded Field, Unclear Winners

The competitive landscape is messy. Mixmax handles meeting prep and follow-up automation. Saege offers account intelligence dossiers. Sybill focuses on meeting summaries and post-call workflows. Then there are the incumbents—platforms that already own the CRM layer and are layering AI on top with varying degrees of success.

Expertise's angle is narrow focus: an assistant built for one role, not a Swiss Army knife trying to do everything. Whether that specificity becomes a moat or a limitation depends on execution and how quickly the bigger platforms move. CRM-native solutions have distribution advantages. Standalone tools have agility. History suggests the two often collide, and the standalone players don't always survive.

For now, Expertise is targeting reps who are exhausted by tool sprawl—people who just want the admin work to disappear so they can get back to closing deals. The free tier lowers the friction. The real proving ground comes when those early adopters try to bring the assistant to their teams, or when IT eventually asks questions about data security and vendor sprawl.

The market is heating up fast, perhaps faster than anyone expected. Whether there's room for another player, or whether consolidation is already on the horizon, is the kind of question that only plays out in real time. For account executives tired of drowning in their tech stack, though, one more option probably doesn't hurt—at least until it becomes one more thing to manage.
