COSMOS LAB is a South Korean deep-tech startup focused on the development and commercialization of zinc-halogen aqueous secondary batteries (water batteries) for energy storage systems. The company's proprietary technology uses water as the electrolyte and zinc-bromine compounds as electrode materials, fundamentally eliminating fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries while avoiding reliance on rare minerals like lithium and cobalt. COSMOS LAB has partnered with SoftBank for joint battery cell development targeting mass production in FY2027, and previously collaborated with Samsung Electronics on high-temperature battery development. The company holds over 25 core patents and has been recognized by the South Korean government's Super Gap Startup 1000+ Program as a globally competitive deep-tech company.
