Ju-Hyuk Lee

Ju-Hyuk Lee is the Co-Founder and CEO of COSMOS LAB, a South Korean deep-tech startup pioneering next-generation zinc-halogen water batteries that eliminate the fire risks inherent in conventional lithium-ion technology.
Lee studied at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), one of South Korea's most prestigious science and engineering universities, building a strong foundation in advanced materials and energy technology.
Lee has secured over 25 patents covering core battery components including electrodes, separators, and electrolytes, positioning COSMOS LAB as a true IP-driven deep-tech company. He has publicly committed to replacing lithium-ion batteries with safer, more sustainable alternatives at global scale.
Under Lee's leadership, COSMOS LAB was selected for South Korea's highly competitive Super Gap Startup 1000+ Program and forged a landmark joint development partnership with SoftBank to mass-produce zinc-halogen battery cells targeting FY2027. The company also completed a joint development project with Samsung Electronics on high-temperature stable batteries.
COSMOS LAB has raised approximately $5.8M through its pre-Series A round and attracted SoftBank's consideration of a 30 billion KRW investment, marking the first entry of a non-lithium Korean battery into the Japanese market. The company's aqueous zinc-halogen ESS battery, unveiled in 2025, is positioned as a critical alternative for AI data center infrastructure.
