Midcentury (Midcentury Labs Inc.) is an applied research lab building data and simulation infrastructure for physical AI. The company addresses two of the hardest bottlenecks in scaling robotics: human action data at internet scale for pretraining, and reliable simulation for evaluation and reinforcement learning. Midcentury has amassed over 2 million hours of first-person human video data spanning 50+ environments and 20,000+ tasks, and developed Matrix, a simulation platform that allows robots to train in virtual environments before real-world deployment. Rather than building robots itself, Midcentury sells the data and tools frontier labs and enterprises need to train them.
