DI Dr. Lukas Höber is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of sequestra, a Vienna-based ClimateTech startup pioneering CO2 mineralisation technology to permanently capture carbon emissions in industrial residues.
Höber holds a PhD in metallurgical and recycling engineering from Montanuniversität Leoben and previously worked as a researcher and sustainability consultant focused on industrial decarbonisation.
Alongside co-founders Roberto Lerche and Gero Schwarz, Höber identified the vast untapped potential of industrial mineral residues for carbon utilisation during his academic and professional work, leading to sequestra's globally patented technology.
sequestra has secured a total of approximately 5 million euros in funding, including a 3 million euro Seed round led by VSE Beteiligungs-GmbH, and has been accepted into prestigious accelerator programs including INiTS, EIT Climate KIC, and the Austrian Greenstart program.
sequestra has conducted over 250 carbonation trials and its technology can permanently bind up to 300 kg of CO2 per tonne of feedstock, with an estimated global impact potential of 4 to 8.5 billion tonnes of CO2 reduction annually.
