Dr. Philip Weissbrod

Dr. Philip Weissbrod is Co-Founder and CEO of Channel Robotics, a surgical robotics company pioneering AI-enhanced, handheld robotic systems that bring precision endoscopy to a far wider patient population without the cost or footprint of traditional tower-based platforms.
Dr. Weissbrod earned his BA from Washington University in St. Louis and his MD from Stony Brook University, completing his residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and a fellowship in laryngology at the University of Washington.
A Professor and inaugural Chair of Otolaryngology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Weissbrod holds multiple patents in AI-powered robotic systems, steerable catheters, and endoscopic devices, and was named Faculty Innovator of the Year in 2024 by the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur.
He founded and directs the Center for Airway, Voice and Swallowing at UC San Diego Health, and co-led years of NIH-funded research with co-founder Professor Michael Yip before commercializing Channel Robotics.
Channel Robotics has raised $1.61M in Seed funding, completed Phase 1 industrial design with bench and cadaveric testing, and is actively pursuing FDA 510(k) clearance for its first device.
