Eugene Shao

Eugene Shao is Co-Founder and CTO at Roadrunner, a Kleiner Perkins-incubated AI-native CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) platform pioneering the Quote-to-Cash space for modern enterprise sales.
Eugene earned his BS in Computer Science and Data Science from Caltech, then built high-throughput systems at Meta and Citadel, and even developed software currently running on the International Space Station.
A serial 2x founder, Eugene previously co-founded Athena, an AI college admissions platform used by 2% of all U.S. high school students, which was acquired in 2025.
At Roadrunner, Eugene leads engineering and architecture, applying his expertise in scalable systems to build an AI-native CPQ platform backed by $27M from Kleiner Perkins and Founders Fund.
Roadrunner holds the distinction of being Kleiner Perkins' first incubation since Glean, and closed its first seven-figure deal within three months of building its prototype.
