Giacomo Bastianelli

Giacomo Bastianelli is Co-Founder and CEO of Rainbow Crops, a next-generation AgTech company engineering complex agronomic traits in crops through AI-driven multiplex genome editing, spun out of Belgium's VIB research institute.
Giacomo holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the Institut Pasteur in Paris and an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the University of Bologna, with executive education at Stanford GSB and HEC Paris.
A serial biotech entrepreneur, Giacomo previously founded and led multiple companies including Meiogenix, BliNK Therapeutics, and Key Neurosciences, and currently serves as an Independent Board Director at Fall Creek Farm and Nursery.
At Rainbow Crops, Giacomo led the company's EUR 9.7M seed round backed by Agri Investment Fund, PINC (Paulig's venture arm), Qbic, and VIB, and secured a USD 7M grant from the Gates Foundation to advance climate-resilient crop development.
