Jim Keller

Jim Keller is Co-Founder of Fab2 (formerly Atomic Semi), a semiconductor manufacturing startup pioneering the concept of a 'fab fab' — a factory that mass-produces small, software-defined semiconductor fabs and the tools inside them.
Keller holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Penn State and built a legendary four-decade career at DEC, AMD, Apple, Tesla, and Intel, architecting some of the most influential chips in history including AMD's Zen microarchitecture and Apple's A4 SoC.
Often called the 'Forrest Gump of the chip industry,' Keller is a co-author of the x86-64 instruction set specification and a pioneer of dual-core SoC design, with his work underpinning products from iPhones to AMD Ryzen CPUs.
Keller currently serves as CEO of AI chip startup Tenstorrent while co-founding Fab2 with DIY fabrication pioneer Sam Zeloof in 2022, backed by a $15M seed round led by the OpenAI Startup Fund.
Fab2 now operates three Texas and California facilities totaling 175,000 square feet, with a mission to democratize chip manufacturing by making compact, replicable fabs faster and more accessible than traditional gigafabs.
