Fab2 (formerly Atomic Semi) is a semiconductor manufacturing startup co-founded by legendary chip architect Jim Keller and DIY fabrication pioneer Sam Zeloof. The company is building a 'fab fab' — a factory that designs, assembles, and mass-produces small, software-defined semiconductor fabs and all the tools inside them, from pumps and valves to lithography systems and vacuum chambers. Targeting rapid prototyping and low-volume chip production, Fab2 pairs its hardware with Studio, an in-browser collaborative EDA tool for chip design. Operating across three sites in Austin, Lockhart, and San Francisco, Fab2 represents a radically distributed alternative to traditional multi-billion-dollar semiconductor gigafabs.
