Joaquín Chamo

Joaquín Chamo is Co-Founder and CPO at Satellites on Fire, an Argentine climate-tech startup building an AI-powered wildfire detection platform that outpaces NASA's alert system by an average of 35 minutes.
Joaquín co-founded Satellites on Fire in 2020 while still a secondary school student at ORT Buenos Aires, driven by a mission to protect communities and ecosystems from the growing threat of wildfires.
Joaquín won a Harvard competition in 2023 and has led the tech and product vision at Satellites on Fire since its inception, helping rebuild the platform from scratch after conducting over 80 interviews with firefighters and emergency responders.
Satellites on Fire closed a $2.7M seed round led by Dalus Capital, with participation from Draper Associates and Draper Cygnus, and previously secured $250,000 from Tim Draper after appearing on Meet the Drapers Season 9.
The platform now monitors territory across 21 countries on four continents, serves over 55,000 users, helped respond to more than 600 wildfires in 2025, and has earned recognition from the UN, MIT, and Cornell University.
