Justin C. Williams

Dr. Justin C. Williams is Co-Founder of NeuraWorx Medical Technologies and a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his research focuses on neural interfaces, neuroengineering, and bioelectronic solutions for brain health.
Dr. Williams earned dual BS degrees from South Dakota State University in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Physics, followed by an MS and PhD in Bioengineering from Arizona State University, and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Michigan and UW-Madison in Biomedical Engineering and Neurosurgery.
Alongside co-founder Dr. Kip Ludwig, Dr. Williams pioneered preclinical and clinical research demonstrating that their bioelectronic technology can enhance cerebrospinal fluid penetrance into the brain, forming the scientific backbone of NeuraWorx. He holds multiple awarded patents that serve as the foundation for the company's Cerebrovascular Pacing System.
Dr. Williams leads neural interface and neuromodulation research at the Wisconsin Institute for Translational Neuroengineering (WITNe) and has attracted early-stage funding from DARPA and the NIH, with NeuraWorx going on to close an oversubscribed Seed round led by Nexus NeuroTech Ventures in December 2025.
NeuraWorx was selected from over 600 deep-tech startups to join the Creative Destruction Lab Neuro Stream cohort, and its Cerebrovascular Pacing System targets neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's dementia and TBI, with first-in-human clinical studies now underway.
