Lucie Kriegshauser

Lucie Kriegshauser is Co-Founder and CTO at Amatera, a biotech platform accelerating the breeding of climate resilient perennial crops. She holds a PhD in plant biology specializing in secondary plant metabolites and biosynthetic pathways.
Lucie completed her PhD at the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology in Strasbourg studying specialized plant metabolites, then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at INRAE Paris-Saclay on genetic improvement of perfume plants. She joined the Entrepreneur First program at Station F in 2022 where she met co-founder Omar Dekkiche.
Lucie is a trained plant biologist who worked at CNRS and INRAE, bringing deep expertise in phytochemistry and molecular biology. She leads a team of 10 technical professionals overseeing all R&D efforts at Amatera.
Amatera raised 1.5 million euros in pre-seed funding in 2023 led by PINC (Paulig's venture arm), with participation from Exceptional Ventures, Mudcake, Joyance Partners, and AgFunder. The company was selected for Station F's Future40 program and won the prestigious I-Lab innovation competition supported by France 2030.
Amatera's non-GMO breeding platform speeds up coffee breeding 4 to 5 times compared to conventional methods, addressing the threat that climate change will reduce suitable Arabica growing areas by 50% by 2050. The technology has filed 6 patents and can be applied to other perennial crops including cacao, bananas, and grapes.
