Amatera is a biotech platform developing non-GMO breeding technology to accelerate the development of climate resilient perennial crops. The company's first application speeds up coffee breeding by 4 to 5 times compared to conventional breeding, working at the cellular level to accelerate natural plant evolution. Amatera is developing Robustica, a coffee variety combining Arabica's rich flavor with Robusta's robustness and higher yields, as well as a naturally caffeine-free Arabica variety. The technology can be applied to other perennial crops threatened by climate change including cacao, bananas, and grapes.
