Neal Lathia is Co-Founder and CTO at Gradient Labs, a London-based AI startup building the first compliant AI agent platform purpose-built for financial services and regulated industries.

Neal holds an MSci and PhD in Computer Science from University College London, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge, before working as a Senior Data Scientist at Skyscanner and then spending seven years scaling the Machine Learning discipline at Monzo Bank.

Drawing on a decade of applied AI experience and deep expertise in financial crime and customer operations, Neal champions transparent, auditable AI systems that exceed regulatory standards rather than merely comply with them.

At Monzo, Neal helped build and lead the ML team from the ground up, covering customer operations, financial crime, and product use cases before co-founding Gradient Labs in 2023 alongside fellow Monzo alumni Dimitri Masin and Danai Antoniou.

Gradient Labs has raised $16.6M across a Seed and Series A round, reached $1M ARR within four months of launch, and its AI agent Otto now resolves up to 80-90% of customer queries for fintech clients including Plum, Zego, Lendable, and one of the UKs largest regulated banks.
