Patrick Haddox

Patrick Haddox is CEO and Co-Founder of Samara Aerospace, a San Francisco-based satellite technology company revolutionizing spacecraft design with its proprietary MSAC technology. He is an aerospace engineer turned deep tech entrepreneur with 12 years of experience in satellite technology development.
Patrick studied aerospace engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and previously worked as a Senior Spacecraft Test Engineer at Blue Canyon Technologies. He co-founded Samara Aerospace in 2022 and completed the TechStars Los Angeles accelerator.
Patrick developed the MSAC system that uses piezoelectric actuators in solar panel hinges to achieve satellite pointing 1,000x more stable than traditional reaction wheels. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory supported the technology development.
Samara Aerospace raised a $10M seed round led by Balerion Space Ventures in December 2025 and secured a $1.25M SpaceWERX contract and $275K NSF award. The company completed its first technology demonstration payload launch on SpaceX Transporter in November 2024.
Samara's Hummingbird satellite bus enables flat satellite design that significantly lowers launch costs and improves pointing accuracy for Earth observation and optical communications. The company plans to launch its first 100-kilogram Hummingbird demonstrator in 2027.
