Samira Baumann

Samira Baumann is the Co-Founder and CEO of Subatron, a Swiss deeptech startup pioneering next-generation wireless underwater communication technology emerging from the ETH Zurich ecosystem. She is also the inventor of Subatron's core system, bringing a rare combination of scientific ingenuity and entrepreneurial vision to one of the ocean tech sector's most persistent challenges.
Samira studied Physics at ETH Zurich, building strong expertise in drone and communication systems that directly informed her invention of Subatron's proprietary underwater wireless platform. Her academic foundation at one of Europe's top technical universities equipped her to tackle the complex physics of subsurface signal transmission.
As inventor of the system and a multidisciplinary team leader, Samira combines deep technical knowledge in physics and communications with strategic business development, driving Subatron through three consecutive stages of the prestigious Venture Kick program. Her leadership secured validation from industry partners and pilot customers across Switzerland and Europe.
Under Samira's leadership, Subatron successfully completed all three stages of Venture Kick, raising a total of CHF 150,000, and was also selected for the InnoBooster program by Gebert Ruf Stiftung. The company has advanced from MVP testing to real-world pilot deployments with industry partners in marine and subsea sectors.
Subatron targets a global underwater communication and monitoring market estimated to exceed CHF 100 billion within the next decade, serving UUVs, professional divers, search and rescue operations, and defence applications. The company is actively expanding its IP portfolio and preparing for market entry across Switzerland and Europe.
