Sharan Srinivas J is the Co-Founder and CTO of Mindgrove Technologies, a fabless semiconductor design startup building state-of-the-art RISC-V System-on-Chips (SoCs) in India for the world. He co-founded Mindgrove alongside Shashwath T.R. with a mission to design cost and power-effective microprocessor technology that reduces India's reliance on imported chips.

Sharan pursued his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, one of India's premier engineering institutions, and has academic associations with ETH Zurich. He also gained industry experience as a Product Manager at Lucid Software Limited prior to co-founding Mindgrove.

Driven by the frustration of India's dependence on foreign semiconductors despite its strength in building devices and systems, Sharan co-founded Mindgrove in 2021 from a small room in Chennai to prove world-class silicon could be designed locally. His deep semiconductor expertise has been central to Mindgrove's rapid chip design and tape-out milestones.

Mindgrove is incubated by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation and IIT Madras Incubation Cell, and has raised over $10M across funding rounds from investors including Peak XV Partners, Rocketship.vc, Speciale Invest, and Andreessen Horowitz. The company secured government backing under India's Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme for its Vision SoC development.

In May 2024, Mindgrove launched 'Secure IoT', India's first commercial-grade high-performance microcontroller SoC taped out at 28nm, serving sectors such as automotive, industrial automation, wearables, defense, and security. The company has grown to nearly 50 employees and forged partnerships with major players including Bosch, cementing its place as a pioneer in India's semiconductor ecosystem.
