Shrey Agarwal is Co-Founder and CEO of Alt Carbon, a deeptech climate company pioneering Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) through Enhanced Rock Weathering across South Asia's agricultural lands.

A 4th-generation tea planter and BITS Pilani graduate in Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering, Shrey previously built expertise at Bain and Company as a Consultant and held roles at SnapDocs, SuperShare, and Zomato before turning a family crisis into a climate mission.

Shrey and his brother Sparsh co-founded Alt Carbon in 2023 after visiting their near-bankrupt family tea estate in Darjeeling, channeling that personal urgency into a science-driven movement to make India a global hub for carbon removal.

Under Shrey's leadership, Alt Carbon became the first India-headquartered company to receive a prepurchase from Frontier, the $1B+ advance market commitment backed by Stripe, Alphabet, Meta, Shopify, and McKinsey, and secured a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation.

Alt Carbon has removed approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO2, raised $12.6M across two funding rounds including India's largest climate tech seed round, and is targeting 5 million metric tons of CO2 removal by 2030 across 500,000 hectares in South Asia. Shrey and Sparsh were named to the Forbes Asia Under 30 list for 2025.
