Alt Carbon is a deeptech science and data company building agricultural infrastructure for climate action across South Asia. Founded by brothers Shrey and Sparsh Agarwal, the company uses Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) to permanently sequester CO2 by spreading basalt rock dust on farmland, where it reacts with rainwater to trap carbon in soil for over 10,000 years. Its flagship Darjeeling Revival Project (DRP) combines large-scale carbon removal with ecological restoration and the revival of India's heritage tea estates. The company sells verified carbon removal credits to corporate buyers including Shopify, Google, Stripe, and MOL Group, and targets removing 5 million metric tons of CO2 by 2030.
