FYLD Raises $41M Series B to Scale AI Operations Platform for Infrastructure

London-based FYLD secures Series B led by Energy Impact Partners to expand its AI-powered frontline intelligence platform across U.S. energy, construction, and water sectors.

FYLD Raises $41M Series B to Scale AI Operations Platform for Infrastructure

The smartphone footage looks mundane at first—a foreman narrating a walkthrough, a crane operator panning across rebar. But for FYLD, a London startup that's spent five years teaching algorithms to spot danger in jobsite clips, those clips are gold mines. Or perhaps more accurately: early warning systems.

On February 18, 2026, the company secured $41 million in Series B funding, led by Energy Impact Partners, with Partech's Growth Impact Fund joining the round. It's fresh ammunition for a platform that converts the chaos of construction—scattered videos, voice memos, photos snapped by workers in hard hats—into something management can actually use. Safety alerts. Compliance documentation. Real-time risk assessments for projects that might span three countries and 5,000 workers.

FYLD's pitch is straightforward: infrastructure projects generate mountains of field data, most of it trapped on phones or lost in email chains. The company's AI turns that into operational intelligence, surfacing hazards before someone gets hurt and flagging quality problems before they compound. Revenue climbed 82% year-over-year in fiscal 2025, a trajectory that caught the attention of investors betting on the collision of AI and analog industries.

Born from a Gas Utility's Problem

FYLD didn't start in a garage. It emerged in 2020 from an unusual collaboration—UK gas distributor SGN, BCG Digital Ventures, and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan—after SGN realized its safety inspectors were drowning in paperwork. The utility wanted remote visibility into fieldwork without adding administrative burden. What began as an internal solution evolved into a standalone company when the founders recognized the problem extended well beyond gas distribution.

SGN remains an anchor customer and a proof point. In its first year using FYLD, the utility logged a 20% drop in injuries and cut time spent on manual risk assessments by 75%, according to Ontario Teachers' portfolio materials. Those results helped open doors elsewhere. FYLD now counts Kiewit Corporation, Quanta Services, Emery Sapp & Sons, and Sulzer among its customers, alongside infrastructure giant Ferrovial.

The new funding is earmarked largely for U.S. expansion. FYLD is targeting 40%-plus of its revenue from American customers by year-end 2026—a significant shift for a company that's been predominantly European until now. To manage that growth, it brought on Lee Griffin as Chief Revenue Officer in 2025 and hired Mohan Sadashiva as Chief Product and Technology Officer last May.

Tailwinds from Data Centers and Decarbonization

Energy Impact Partners, a firm focused on energy infrastructure, pointed to what it sees as a perfect storm of demand: the data center buildout, grid modernization projects, and decarbonization mandates are all driving massive construction spending. "The need for productivity and safety at scale in field operations" has intensified as utilities and contractors juggle sprawling, complex projects, the firm noted in announcing the investment.

It's not hard to see why. The U.S. is pouring billions into infrastructure—Inflation Reduction Act funds, CHIPS Act spending, private investments in AI-hungry data centers. All of that translates to construction sites, many in remote locations where traditional oversight is costly or impractical. FYLD's bet is that contractors will pay for software that extends their eyes and ears across those sites without adding headcount.

How It Works: Video Risk Assessments Meet Machine Learning

The platform's core product captures what FYLD calls "video risk assessments"—VRAs in company jargon. Workers use smartphones or wearables to record site walkthroughs, equipment checks, or specific hazards. The AI layer flags issues in real time: unsecured scaffolding, missing PPE, quality deviations, delivery bottlenecks. It's not just surveillance; the system integrates with project management software like Procore, a partnership announced in November 2024 that FYLD claims delivered up to 12% productivity gains within six weeks for pilot customers.

Customer data, at least as FYLD presents it, is compelling. The company reports up to 48% reductions in serious worksite injuries and an average 8% productivity lift in the first six months of deployment. Whether those gains persist—or whether they reflect the Hawthorne effect of being watched—remains to be seen. But for an industry where fatalities and cost overruns are endemic, even incremental improvements carry weight.

A Growing Funding Stack, With Some Opacity

Before this round, FYLD raised £12 million (roughly $15 million) in late 2023, led by Ontario Teachers', announced in April 2024. It also secured $10 million in growth capital from NatWest in October 2024. Government Technology reported total funding of $79.5 million, citing FYLD CEO Shelley Copsey, though the exact mix of debt versus equity—and the currency conversions—remain somewhat opaque. It's not unusual for growth-stage companies to layer in debt alongside equity, but the disclosure here leaves questions.

Still, the momentum is real. FYLD ranked #22 on Deloitte UK's Technology Fast 50 in 2025 and made BuiltWorlds' Infrastructure Tech Top 50 the same year. Gartner included the company as a sample vendor in its 2025 Hype Cycle for Frontline Worker Technologies, a nod to its relevance in a crowded field.

Paper Checklists Die Hard

With $41 million in fresh capital, FYLD plans to deepen its footprint in energy, construction, and water infrastructure—sectors where, despite decades of digitization efforts elsewhere, field operations still lean heavily on paper checklists and post-facto inspections. The challenge isn't just technology; it's changing behavior among workers who may view cameras as surveillance rather than tools.

FYLD's thesis is that the volume of jobsite data—and the pressure to manage distributed workforces safely—will overcome that resistance. Whether contractors and utilities will embrace video-based oversight at scale, or whether privacy concerns and worker pushback slow adoption, will determine if the company's U.S. ambitions hit their mark. For now, the capital is in the bank, and the expansion is underway. The hard part, as always, is execution.
