Morgan Creek Digital leads round for blockchain infrastructure enabling permissionless access to tokenized real-world assets across multiple chains.

Nuva Digital Raises $5.2M Seed to Scale RWA Tokenization Platform

The race to democratize access to tokenized real-world assets just gained another well-funded contender.

NUVA Digital, a joint venture born from the unlikely pairing of gaming giant Animoca Brands and blockchain infrastructure firm Nuva Labs, has closed a $5.2 million seed round. Morgan Creek Digital led the financing, which closed on April 28, 2026, with Ulu Ventures joining as a participant. According to The Block, which first reported the deal, the round was structured as a priced Series Seed equity investment sweetened with token warrants—NUVA Digital's inaugural outside capital raise.

The timing reflects a broader bet: that the infrastructure enabling everyday investors to access institutional-grade assets on-chain is finally ready for primetime. Whether that bet pays off remains an open question, though NUVA Digital's backers clearly think the market is moving in their direction.

Breaking Down the Custody Barrier

At its core, NUVA Digital operates a marketplace designed to solve what its founders see as a fundamental friction point. Traditional tokenized asset platforms often require custody arrangements or minimum deposits that lock out smaller participants. NUVA's approach? Permissionless access across multiple blockchains, no custody strings attached.

The platform currently runs two vault products, both tied to assets originated by Figure Technologies. The first, nvYLDS, functions as a stablecoin yield vault backed by Figure's SEC-registered YLDS token. It targets returns hovering around SOFR minus 35 basis points—modest, perhaps, but with regulatory legitimacy baked in. The second product, nvPRIME, offers exposure to Figure's on-chain home equity lines of credit, aiming for yields near 8%.

Both operate as ERC-20 tokens with on-chain proof of reserves, a design choice that reflects the industry's post-FTX obsession with transparency. The infrastructure spans Ethereum, Solana, and Base today, with NUVA Digital indicating more chain integrations are in the works.

In February, the company added a compliance layer through a partnership with AnChain.AI, layering anti-money laundering monitoring across its multi-chain distribution network. It's the sort of move that signals institutional ambitions—or at least an awareness that regulators are watching.

NUVA Digital plans to deploy the seed proceeds across three broad areas: platform development, vault marketplace expansion, and integrating additional asset issuers beyond Figure. The company is also building what it describes as institutional-grade tooling for asset managers and corporate treasury teams—a nod to the corporate treasurer suddenly intrigued by on-chain yield opportunities.

Then there's the utility token. NUVA Digital has confirmed plans to launch a NUVA token, though the company has been conspicuously silent on timing. Given the regulatory climate around token launches, that caution may be strategic.

Dr. Sachin Jaitly, a general partner at Morgan Creek Digital, joined NUVA Digital's board as part of the deal. He'll serve alongside Mike Cagney, co-founder and executive chairman of Figure, and June Ou, executive director of the Provenance Blockchain Foundation—a roster that blends crypto-native investors with figures from traditional finance.

The seed round arrives as tokenized real-world assets transition from crypto curiosity to a segment that traditional finance is taking seriously, if cautiously. CoinGecko's May 2026 RWA report estimated tokenized RWAs now represent roughly 6.4% of the stablecoin market by size. Industry trackers have pegged the total addressable market somewhere between $27 billion and $29 billion as of April—a meaningful sum, though still a rounding error compared to traditional asset management.

Provenance Blockchain, the ecosystem from which Nuva Labs originally emerged, cited over $23 billion in RWA total value locked in an April announcement—a marketing estimate from the blockchain itself rather than independently verified data. Those figures suggest genuine traction, even if the sector remains niche by Wall Street standards.

NUVA Digital CEO Anthony Moro told The Block the seed round closed in a single tranche following the company's carve-out from Provenance Blockchain Foundation in August 2024. The entity rebranded from NU Blockchain Technologies to Nuva Labs in September 2025, then spun up the NUVA Digital subsidiary in partnership with Animoca Brands shortly thereafter. It's a corporate structure that reflects the sometimes labyrinthine organizational charts common in blockchain ventures.

Deals in the Pipeline

The company has been busy inking partnerships as it builds out its ecosystem. In January, NUVA Digital teamed up with Vesta Equity on what they described as the first digitally-native home equity investment executed on-chain using YLDS tokens. Three months earlier, in October 2025, Dream Payments signed on to enable corporate treasury management using nvYLDS tokens—a partnership targeting the growing number of companies looking to put idle treasury funds to work without leaving the blockchain.

What NUVA Digital hasn't disclosed: a firm timeline for its utility token launch or specifics on which additional issuers it plans to onboard. Those details will likely determine whether the company can expand beyond its current reliance on Figure-originated assets.

For now, NUVA Digital joins a crowded field of platforms chasing the tokenized asset opportunity. The $5.2 million in fresh capital provides runway. Whether it's enough to build a defensible moat in a market where infrastructure advantages can evaporate quickly—that's the question Morgan Creek Digital and its co-investors are now betting on.
