BioOrbit is a UK-based space-pharma startup building a pharmaceutical factory in microgravity to transform cancer treatment. Using its proprietary BOX hardware platform, a compact autonomous manufacturing unit operating in low-Earth orbit, BioOrbit crystallises protein-based drugs at scale in microgravity, enabling high-concentration antibody therapies to be reformulated into self-injectable subcutaneous treatments patients can administer at home. The company is pioneering the regulatory pathway for in-orbit drug manufacturing alongside the MHRA and UK Space Agency, with ambitions to become the go-to orbital pharmaceutical manufacturing line within a decade.
