Reflektme Brings 'Social Proof Mirrors' to Shopify Merchants

The Techstars-backed startup's new app personalizes product pages with UGC matching shoppers' attributes—turning a Levi's enterprise feature into a $99/month tool for SMBs.

Reflektme Brings 'Social Proof Mirrors' to Shopify Merchants

For years, online shoppers have performed a familiar ritual: click on a promising product, scroll through polished studio shots, then abandon the tab to hunt Instagram for proof that the thing actually works on bodies, hair, or faces like theirs. It's inefficient. Sometimes it's demoralizing. And for merchants, it's expensive—all those lost conversions bleeding away to social feeds.

Reflekt Me, an Atlanta startup that partnered with Levi's in 2022 to show shoppers what denim looks like across different body types, is now trying to solve that problem at scale. The company launched Preview It on the Shopify App Store in mid-September 2025, packaging what it learned from enterprise clients into a subscription app priced for smaller merchants. Starting at $99 a month, the tool promises to transform static product galleries into personalized "social proof mirrors"—pages that automatically surface user-generated content matching whoever happens to be shopping.

Whether that's worth another monthly subscription in an already crowded ecommerce stack remains an open question. But the problem Reflekt Me is chasing is real enough.

What the App Actually Does

Preview It replaces the conventional product image carousel with an interactive widget. Merchants upload customer photos, how-to videos, or creator content into the app's content management system. Then the tool serves up visuals tailored to shopper attributes—size, skin tone, hair texture, intended use. A curly-haired customer browsing hair accessories sees how the product behaves on curls, not stick-straight studio hair. Someone filtering by XL sees actual people wearing XL.

The app includes creator outreach tools, engagement analytics, and what the company calls a business support chatbot. Pricing tiers scale by product count: $99 monthly for up to 10 products, $249 for 11–25, $499 for 26–100, and $999 for anything larger, with merchants billed every 30 days. Annual plans offer small discounts. All come with a 15-day trial window.

Tope Mitchell and Gerald Mitchell, who founded Reflekt Me in 2019, describe this as "social mirrors"—embedding real people who reflect shoppers back to themselves. The goal is retention: keeping browsers on the product page instead of dispatching them to TikTok or Instagram to validate their purchase instinct.

It's a simple concept. The execution, though? Less so.

From Enterprise Integrations to App Store Distribution

Reflekt Me cut its teeth building custom solutions for big retailers. The company has cycled through Techstars in 2023, the AWS Impact Accelerator for Black Founders in 2022, and picked up backing from XRC Ventures along the way. Its marquee case study remains a 2022 partnership with Levi's—a feature called "See It In My Size" that let shoppers on Levi.com filter product images by body type.

That integration gave the founders credibility and a blueprint for what merchants actually value. But enterprise deals are slow, bespoke, and resource-intensive. Shopify's app ecosystem offered a different play: build once, distribute broadly, collect recurring revenue.

The timing isn't accidental. Shopify has been aggressively pushing personalization and engagement tools, and DTC brands are increasingly layering apps to mimic enterprise-grade experiences without enterprise budgets. Preview It enters a crowded field—competing against shoppable video platforms like Reelify, Videoit, and Tolstoy, plus UGC-review hybrids like Loox and Okendo. Reflekt Me's differentiator centers on personalization: matching content to shopper attributes rather than simply embedding social media clips.

Whether that distinction is worth paying for is the bet.

The Pricing Puzzle

At $99 monthly, Preview It sits below enterprise personalization platforms but above free-tier UGC apps. The company is wagering that conversion-starved DTC brands will pay for functionality that larger retailers build in-house.

Early adopters include PuffCuff, a hair accessory brand, and Yoni Mack, which sells personal care products. The Sickle Cell Sanctuary, a community organization, is also using the tool to showcase resources. Reflekt Me beta-tested the Shopify integration with Ecomspaces, an Atlanta-based logistics provider.

As of early April 2026, the app shows zero reviews on the Shopify App Store. That's not necessarily alarming for a product barely six months into market—merchants can be slow to leave feedback. But it does mean prospective users won't find social proof from peers, which is a certain irony for a tool built around social validation.

The company has cited performance metrics—75% conversion lifts, 300% engagement gains—in founder interviews and marketing materials, though these figures have not been independently verified. For merchants evaluating whether to add yet another subscription, the lack of verifiable data might give pause.

The Harder Problem

Reflekt Me is addressing something tangible: most product pages still rely on professional photography that doesn't reflect actual customers. User-generated content has become standard practice, yes—but showing relevant UGC, dynamically matched to individual shoppers, remains technically tricky and expensive to execute well.

The question is whether $99 a month is the right entry point. Merchants are already managing subscriptions for email platforms, SMS tools, review apps, loyalty programs, analytics suites. Another line item requires justification. For brands that have exhausted other conversion levers, an app promising to personalize the product detail page without custom development might be compelling. For others, it's just more noise.

The real challenge will be execution at volume. Enterprise clients like Levi's receive white-glove implementations and dedicated support. Shopify merchants expect plug-and-play simplicity, intuitive dashboards, and responsive help when something breaks. Bridging that gap—delivering enterprise sophistication at SMB pricing—is where many SaaS companies falter, sometimes spectacularly.

For now, Preview It is live, priced, and shipping. Merchants can test it for 15 days without commitment. Whether it actually converts browsers into buyers—and merchants into paying customers—will eventually show up in those App Store reviews.

Or it won't. And that will tell its own story.
