Phosphoenix is an Amsterdam-based MedTech startup developing a neuroprosthetic system to restore functional vision for people with profound blindness. Founded as a spin-off from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, the company's proprietary Fountain Probe uses high-density, ultra-flexible neural interfaces with over 1,000 microelectrodes to bypass damaged retinas or optic nerves and stimulate the brain's visual pathway directly. Backed by investors including TTT Medtech Fund, BioGeneration Ventures, Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland, and ROM InWest, Phosphoenix is preparing for its first-in-human clinical study in collaboration with Amsterdam UMC.
