Albert Cai is Co-Founder and CEO of Harbor, an AI-powered electronic data capture (EDC) platform purpose-built to modernize clinical trial data management for medical device and pharma companies.
Albert turned down medical school to pursue clinical trials and regulatory strategy at Biolinq, a wearable biosensor startup, guiding its flagship product from first-in-human studies to FDA De Novo authorization. He previously served as Head of Diabetes Technology at Close Concerns, a boutique medtech consulting firm, and studied biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan.
Having spent four years embedded in clinical trials and watching coordinators battle legacy software firsthand, Albert co-founded Harbor to solve a problem he lived through personally. His deep regulatory fluency and frontline clinical experience uniquely position him to reimagine the EDC category from the ground up.
Harbor is a Y Combinator-backed company offering a 21 CFR Part 11 and GCP-compliant EDC that uses AI to auto-generate CRFs from trial protocols and cut data entry time by 90%. The platform was built and launched in just eight months, and is live across multiple clinical studies.
Harbor has already demonstrated 10x faster study database configuration versus legacy EDC vendors, and its AI-driven approach targets the roughly 40,000 clinical trials launched annually, nearly half of which face preventable delays. Data management currently consumes around 30% of total clinical trial budgets, a cost Harbor is directly working to reduce.
