CargoKite completed a successful pre-seed funding round in 2022 with investors including SOSV, HAX, Lowercarbon Capital, Third Derivative, and FTTF. The company developed a proof of concept with a nine meter catamaran in 2023 and is now designing its full-size vessel.
CargoKite's innovative ship design uses high-altitude kite propulsion to achieve 100% emission-free shipping while reducing operating costs by 60% and enabling faster, customizable maritime logistics. The company's technology could save roughly 140 million tons of CO2 annually in the EU if widely adopted.
