
Assaf Wand is Co-Founder and CEO at Hippo Insurance, a home insurance technology company that went public on the NYSE in 2021.
Assaf holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and degrees in Law and Finance from IDC Herzliya in Israel. He previously worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and as an investor at Intel Capital.
Assaf received the University of Chicago Booth Distinguished Alumni Entrepreneurial Award in 2020. He served as Captain in the Israeli Air Force and is a serial entrepreneur who founded Sabi (acquired by Urbio in 2015) and Foris Telecom.
Hippo raised over $709M in venture funding from investors including Bond Capital, Felicis Ventures, and Lennar before going public via SPAC merger. The company reached unicorn status in 2019 and went public at a $5B valuation in 2021.
Hippo offers home insurance in 37 states covering over 80% of US homeowners and has delivered more than 400,000 smart home devices to customers. The company achieved EBITDA profitability under his leadership.
