Azalia Mirhoseini is Co-Founder and CTO of Ricursive Intelligence, a frontier AI lab enabling recursive self-improvement through AI that designs, verifies, and closes silicon.
She earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and served as a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, and previously held roles at Google Brain and Anthropic, contributing to the development of Gemini and Claude.
Azalia is the co-creator of AlphaChip, a pioneering deep reinforcement learning system for chip layout optimization, and also co-created Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) neural architectures now used in leading generative AI models.
She is also an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, where she directs the Scaling Intelligence lab focused on scalable and self-improving AI systems toward AGI.
Ricursive Intelligence raised $335M in total funding, including a $300M Series A at a $4B valuation led by Lightspeed, with backing from Sequoia, NVIDIA, and DST Global, just four months after launching.
