Benjamin Paul Gibbons is Co-Founder and CEO of Circular11, a Dorset-based cleantech company transforming hard-to-recycle plastic waste into low-carbon construction materials and composite lumber. He is driven by a mission to turn the global plastic waste crisis into a scalable supply stream for net-zero building materials.
Benjamin holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford and gained experience with international development organisations including VSO and Restless Development, before co-founding Circular11 in 2021 after witnessing the devastating impact of open plastic burning during a waste management project in Nepal.
Benjamin won the Innovate UK Young Innovators Award, securing a grant and mentorship that proved critical in Circular11's early commercial development. He credits his ability to shape business as an instrument of good as a core personal and professional philosophy.
Benjamin and co-founder Connor Winter spent 9 months in the Carbon13 climate technology programme and 3 months at Circular Valley in Germany to build world-class manufacturing expertise. Circular11 has since won contracts with organisations such as the Woodland Trust and secured backing from Vectr7 Investment Partners, the British Business Bank, and InnovateUK.
Circular11 raised £2.4 million in 2026, targeting the recycling of 10,000 tonnes of low-quality plastic over two years, and is preparing to 10x production following support from the National Highways Accelerating Low Carbon accelerator. The company's proprietary machine-learning-driven technology positions it as a leading innovator in the sustainable construction materials sector.
