
Bill Gross is Co-Founder of NuCube Energy, a nuclear energy technology company developing the world's first solid state fission reactor capable of producing heat up to 1,100 degrees Celsius for industrial applications. He is also Founder and CEO of Idealab Studio, the longest-running technology incubator in the United States.
Gross graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology and founded Idealab in 1996, creating more than 200 startup companies with over 50 successful IPOs and acquisitions. He is widely credited with inventing the modern pay-per-click business model through GoTo.com, which was acquired by Yahoo.
Gross serves on the Board of Trustees at the California Institute of Technology and the Art Center College of Design. He has founded multiple clean energy companies including Heliogen (backed by Bill Gates), Energy Vault (NYSE: NRGV), and eSolar, demonstrating deep expertise in renewable energy innovation.
NuCube raised $13M in February 2026 led by Arizona Nuclear Ventures and received strategic support from Shell GameChanger and investment from Halliburton Labs. The company partnered with Utah's San Rafael Energy Lab to test its groundbreaking microreactor technology.
Through Idealab, Gross has created over 10,000 jobs and generated roughly 10+ unicorn companies valued at over $1 billion. NuCube's revolutionary reactor design is the only technology that can compete with natural gas for high-temperature industrial customers, positioning it to transform global energy infrastructure.
