Brian Huppi is Co-Founder at Applied Electrodynamics (YC S26), a deep tech startup building infrastructure to perceive the physical world across the full electromagnetic spectrum and turn real environments into machine-readable data.
Brian holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and brings an eclectic background spanning music, civil engineering, and EE, with over a decade at Apple as a senior sensing system hardware engineer.
At Apple, Brian was a member of the original iPhone development team, helping prototype the iPhone's capacitive touchscreen, and famously invented the MacBook's iconic pulsating sleep LED, which he personally demoed to Steve Jobs.
After Apple, Brian served as a hardware engineer at Humane, the AI wearable startup, and also held roles at Symmetry Sensors and Manufactory Co., building deep expertise in sensing systems, embedded hardware, and wearable technologies.
Applied Electrodynamics is part of Y Combinator's S26 batch, co-founded alongside Paul Leutheuser, George McLean, and Matt Egan, targeting a foundational shift in how machines perceive and interpret the physical world beyond visible light.
