
Carl Borrebaeck is the Founder and Chairman of PainDrainer AB, a Swedish digital healthtech company using AI to help chronic pain patients improve their quality of life without drugs.
Carl holds the first chair as Professor of Immunotechnology in Scandinavia at Lund University since 1989, and completed post-doctoral training at the University of California, Davis, and a sabbatical at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Carl was named Biotech Builder of the Year in 2017, received the AKZO Nobel Science Award in 2009, and the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences Gold Medal in 2012 for outstanding contributions to biomedicine.
A serial life science entrepreneur, Carl co-founded BioInvent International, Alligator Bioscience, Immunovia, SenzaGen, and Uptake Bio, and serves as a Founding Mentor for the Nordic Mentor Network for Entrepreneurship (NOME).
PainDrainer has raised over $7M, secured an FDA Class I Medical Device registration, obtained a European Patent Office patent for its AI-driven pain management platform, and entered the U.S. market via a commercial partnership with a leading New York pain physician.
