
Cristiano Amon is President and CEO of Qualcomm, a global leader in semiconductor and wireless technologies, since June 2021. He is a Brazilian electrical engineer who has driven the company's 5G strategy and diversification into automotive, AI, and IoT sectors.
Amon earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UNICAMP in Brazil in 1992 and joined Qualcomm in 1995 as an engineer after working at NEC in Brazil and Japan. He previously served as CTO of Vesper, a Brazilian wireless operator, where he turned around the struggling company before it was sold to Embratel in 2003.
Amon was named to TIME's 100 Most Influential People in AI in 2025 and Fortune's 100 Most Powerful People in Business. He received the JEDEC Distinguished Executive Leadership Award and holds an honorary doctorate from UNICAMP.
Amon was appointed President of Qualcomm in 2018 and led the $1.4 billion acquisition of Nuvia to enhance CPU capabilities. He became only the fourth CEO in Qualcomm's history, overseeing Qualcomm's 4G and 5G technology used in most Android devices worldwide.
Under Amon's leadership, Qualcomm reported fiscal 2025 revenue of $44.28 billion with record growth in automotive and IoT segments. He successfully navigated global chip shortages during the pandemic and expanded Qualcomm's automotive design pipeline to $45 billion, positioning the company as a leader in on-device AI and edge computing.
