Curtis Wu is Co-Founder and CEO of Maglut Heavy Industries, a Long Beach, California-based deep tech company pioneering chromatography-based rare earth element separation to rebuild domestic US critical minerals processing.
Curtis studied chemical engineering at MIT, earned an MBA from Harvard, and built deep expertise in biologics purification at Amgen before moving into life-sciences investing as a General Partner at Terran Applied.
Curtis recognized that chromatography techniques refined by the biotech industry over decades could be reimagined and applied to rare earth separation, an insight drawn directly from his hands-on experience in pharmaceutical-grade purification.
Prior to Maglut, Curtis held roles at Verition Fund Management, Amgen, and Boeing, giving him a rare cross-disciplinary foundation spanning advanced manufacturing, biotech, and capital markets.
Maglut emerged from stealth with $3.1M in pre-seed funding and its flagship ARC-1 system, which has achieved 99.9%+ purity in pilot-scale rare earth oxide production, with a demonstration-scale commercial facility targeted for August 2027.
