Daniel Camilleri is Co-Founder and CTO at Kinematic Trees, a Sheffield-based robotics software startup building a nature-inspired, robot-agnostic intelligence layer described as a universal robot brain.
Born in Malta, Daniel holds a Masters degree in Robotics and spent five years as a researcher on EU-funded collaborative projects at the University of Sheffield, working on advanced control systems for humanoid robots.
Daniel previously co-founded Cyberselves Universal (later Bettering our Worlds), where he led development of robot-agnostic telepresence software, secured UK Ministry of Defence contracts, and reached the final 15 of the $10M ANA Avatar XPrize.
He and CEO Dr. Stuart Wilson first conceived the idea for a universal robot brain at the Living Machines conference at Stanford University in 2017, drawing on shared research in adaptive robot control and computational neuroscience.
Kinematic Trees raised £585K in pre-seed funding in July 2026 from Haatch, D2N2, and the British Business Bank, and is targeting its first customer factory deployments and international partnerships in the second half of 2026.
