David Crawshaw is Founder and CEO at exe.dev, a next-generation cloud infrastructure platform built for developers. He co-founded the company with Josh Bleecher Snyder to reimagine cloud computing with better primitives and developer experience.
David was CTO and co-founder of Tailscale, a secure networking company, and previously worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Google. He holds a BA in Mathematics and History from the University of Sydney and specialized in petabyte-scale logs processing, TCP/IP networking for Fuchsia, and ported Go to iOS.
David is based in Berkeley, California and has made significant open-source contributions to Go, WireGuard, and Tailscale. He has deep expertise in low-level systems and networking work.
exe.dev raised a Series A totaling 35M in funding from Amplify, CRV, and HeavyBit to build development-focused cloud infrastructure. The platform features persistent VMs with HTTPS by default, global load balancing, and an integrated AI coding agent.
exe.dev is building its own infrastructure in data centers rather than on existing clouds to get primitives right. The platform includes features like copy-on-write VMs, private-by-default servers, and simple flat-rate pricing for developers.
