Derek began his career at Morgan Stanley and spent a decade investing at TPG, Hellman & Friedman, and GIC, backing companies such as Uber, Airbnb, and Lynda.com.
Derek holds an AB from Harvard College and an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, graduating as a Baker Scholar.
At CapitalG, Derek has led investments in Armis, Collibra, Cribl, Databricks, Dataiku, Grafana, NinjaOne, Ping Identity, Verkada, and Supabase, serving on several boards of directors.
Derek championed CapitalG's participation in Supabase's Series F and subsequent $150M raise, backing one of the fastest-growing private database companies with over 13 million developers on its platform.
