Álvaro Silberstein is Co-Founder and CEO of Wheel the World, a B2B2C accessible travel platform empowering people with disabilities to discover and book verified accessible experiences worldwide.
A Chilean entrepreneur with a background in industrial engineering and management consulting, Álvaro earned his MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, where he co-founded Wheel the World with childhood friend Camilo Navarro.
After a 2004 car accident left him with C5 quadriplegia, Álvaro became the first person to complete the rugged Patagonia W trek by wheelchair in 2016, proving that accessibility in travel is an information problem, not just an infrastructure one.
He has served as an advisor to the Chilean government on national disability inclusion strategy, received the EDI Awards' Techpreneur and Entrepreneur of the Year honors, and won the World Summit Award in the Culture and Heritage category.
Wheel the World has raised over $18M in funding, serves 160-plus destinations globally, and targets a disability travel market worth more than $100 billion, with a B2B platform now delivering verified accessibility data to the broader tourism industry.
