Adair Borges is Co-Founder of Ditto Bio (YC W26), a biotechnology company discovering drugs for autoimmune diseases by harnessing parasite biology.
Adair earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from UCSF and a Bachelor of Science from University of Pittsburgh as a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar. She completed a Miller Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley in the Banfield Lab and worked as a Scientist at Arcadia Science.
Adair received the 2019 Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award for outstanding achievement in biological sciences and a 2019 UCSF Chancellor Diversity Award. She is a published molecular geneticist with extensive experience in evolutionary biology, host-pathogen interactions, and bioinformatics.
Ditto Bio is part of Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch, leveraging AI to identify parasite proteins that could treat autoimmune diseases. The company uses an AI platform to mine millions of years of evolutionary innovation from viruses, ticks, and worms.
Adair's research has been published extensively in top scientific journals with over 1,550 citations. Her doctoral work on anti-CRISPR proteins and phage-bacteria warfare has contributed to understanding immune system modulation, now applied to drug discovery at Ditto Bio.
