
Alex Dimakis is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Bespoke Labs, a research lab building the reinforcement learning environments and infrastructure that make AI agents reliable for frontier labs and enterprises.
Alex earned his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and his Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens, and previously served as a Professor at UT Austin before returning to UC Berkeley's EECS department.
An IEEE Fellow and author of more than 150 papers, Alex has received the James Massey Award, NSF Career Award, a Google Research Award, and the UC Berkeley Eli Jury dissertation award.
Alex has served as Area Chair for NeurIPS, ICML, and AAAI, and co-directed the National AI Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning (IFML) at UT Austin before co-founding Bespoke Labs in 2024.
Bespoke Labs raised $40M across seed and Series A rounds, and its open research contributions include OpenThoughts, a reasoning dataset downloaded over 500,000 times and used by Meta, Amazon, and Thinking Machines Lab.
