Alex Penn is Co-Founder and CTO at Firefly, a company building the modern safety network for America powered by AI, connected by IoT, and designed to protect spaces where people live, work, and learn.

Alex earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, then spent nearly a decade at Apple as a Touch Hardware Engineer and Engineering Manager, shipping technology across the iPhone XS through iPhone 17 lineup.

Alex brings rare depth across hardware, analog circuit design, sensors, and IoT product development, skills honed at Apple and sharpened through his time as a member of South Park Commons, a community for technical founders.

Prior to Firefly, Alex co-founded Normal Corporation in 2022, further developing his expertise in consumer hardware before pivoting to tackle the critical safety infrastructure market.

Firefly recently emerged from stealth mode with Alex and co-founder James Buckley (CEO) leading an 11-person team, positioning the company as a first-of-its-kind AI and IoT-driven safety network for residential, commercial, and educational spaces across the US.
