Alex Tung is Co-Founder and CEO of Whitespace (YC S26), an AI operating system built to automate the $60 trillion wholesale distribution industry. His family spent 30+ years supplying physical goods, giving him firsthand insight into the manual inefficiencies that Whitespace is purpose-built to solve.
Alex studied Economics at Cambridge University, where he was awarded academic scholarships in all years and graduated top of his college. He went on to become a Consultant at BCG, where he won a firm-wide performance award given to roughly 100 employees globally.
Alex was the first non-engineer hire at Ankar, an Index-backed AI startup, where he scaled the company to 7-figure ARR within a year. His background spans enterprise AI consulting, high-growth startup operations, and a deep personal connection to the wholesale distribution world.
At Whitespace, Alex and co-founder Leon Yao are building self-improving AI agents that connect to distributors' existing systems to automate inventory planning, order processing, and customer service. The company was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch, validating its early traction with wholesale distributors.
Whitespace targets a $60 trillion global industry where 30 to 50% of staff are dedicated to back-office tasks, enabling distributors to grow revenue without adding headcount. The platform is already helping customers automate core operations across their existing systems.
